Pinkney, J. (2009). The Lion & The Mouse. New York, NY: Little, Brown and Company Books for Young Readers.
This is a nicely illustrated picture book. There are no words outside of the occasional animal noises, but you can easily see the story unfold. The mouse wakes the lion who lets him go. The lion gets caught in a trap. The mouse hears the roar and returns to help the lion. A little twist, the mouse brings back a piece of string, from the trap, to her babies so they too can learn to cut string to be helpful.
