Collins, S. (2008). The Hunger Games. New York, NY: Scholastic Press.
The story begins with Katniss waking up to go hunting and waits for her hunting partner, where she gets her first flash back. Through her flashbacks we get to see what the setting is like and the situation they are in. One of her main conflicts was how Katniss has to stay alive, protect, and feed herself and family. They fight to stay alive in the games, and defy the central government by leaving the games with no winner. They are granted permission to win and return home victorious.
Two literary qualities are unexpected insights and understatements. Unexpected insights, many things keep coming up, one for examples is how the two kids in the game have love for each other. Understanding, the story leaves some things open for your interpretation. Now that the games are over, what problems will be coming their way for defying the government.
